Complete and submit your MNsure application, including your household & income information. Review your application carefully before submitting. This application will determine your eligibility.
Select “Confirm Event”, enter the date of the qualifying event change, and upload the proof MNsure requests. After uploading the document, call the MNsure Contact Center at 1-855-366-7873 and ask them to review and approve the documents. If you do not call, document approval may take weeks. Your documents must be approved before you can enroll into a plan.
After the documents are approved, you will see a “Shop for Plans” button, click that button to select your desired plan, add that plan to cart and complete enrollment. Here you may see a “Pay Now” button you can use this to make your first month’s payment or you can wait for your invoice in the mail. ID cards will not be sent until that first premium payment is received.
If you lost coverage, got married, had a baby, or experienced another qualifying event, you may have a Special Enrollment Period. Most special enrollment periods allow 60 days prior to the event and days after the date of the event to enroll into a plan.
Tax filers: Include yourself and your spouse if you file taxes together
Dependents: Include anyone you claim as a tax dependent on your federal tax return, even if they do not need health coverage.
When you apply, MNsure will tell you which documents to upload. Submit one dated document showing your name, coverage type, reason for loss of coverage, and last day of coverage.
The document must confirm that you lost qualifying health coverage withing the past 60 days or will lose it within the next 60 days, and explain why coverage is ending.
Don’t wait. MNsure must receive and process your document before you can select a plan. Choose a plan before your 60-day SEP window expires.
